Great Lines Heritage Park – Latest News

Friends of GLHP carried out a community litter pick on the morning of Saturday 10th December 2011. Over 20 people turned up on the sunny but cold morning, including some welcome new faces as well as the regulars to help collect over 30 black sacks of rubbish.

More awards for Great Lines Heritage Park!

Hot on the heels of the Institution of Civil Engineers “Engineering Excellence” award, given to Prince Williams Bridge for best structure in the southeast in July, we are delighted to have received not just one, but two prestigious Landscape Institute awards. The Great Lines Heritage Park was highly commended in the Heritage and Conservation category, and overall winner of the Local Landscape Planning award. Prince William’s Bridge has also recently picked up its second accolade - Mott MacDonald’s BNI Engineering Excellence Award!

Winter Opening Times

Please note that from Friday 21st October winter closing hours for Fort Amherst’s parkland will begin.  The gates will continue to be opened at 6.15am, but will close at 3.45pm.

More awards for the Great Lines Heritage Park?

We are delighted to announce that the Great Lines Heritage Park has been shortlisted for not just one, but two prestigious Landscape Institute Awards - in the Heritage and Conservation category, and the Local Landscape Planning category. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday 17 November.

FoGLHP Open Meeting – 22nd September

There will be an open meeting of the Friends of Great Lines Heritage Park at Mid Kent College’s Lower Lines campus from 7pm on Thursday 22nd September. All are welcome.

There will be two guest speakers for the evening – Martin Stoneham from the Friends of the Royal Engineers Museum will give an introduction to the Royal Engineers’ plans to celebrate their bicentenary in 2012, and Kevin Steele, Community Warden, will outline ways we can all get involved in caring for our local parks, including an introduction to the ‘Love Medway’ phone app.
