How can I become involved?

- Join the Chatham World Heritage Partnership, to receive e-mail updates, and invites to Partnership meetings Everyone is welcome - it's a chance for anyone with an interest in the site to find out more, and have their say.

- Post your message of support, or contribute to the people's story of Chatham's World Heritage in our Guest Book. Did you work at the Dockyard?  Do you remember a relative's tales of a Dockyard apprenticeship? Did you attend a ship's launch? Would you like to trace old colleagues? Have you had a fascinating day out at the Fort? If so, we'd love to hear from you. The Guest Book helps Chatham's heritage come to life.

- Many sites welcome volunteers. This often requires no special skills, and is an excellent way of appreciating heritage. You can make a valuable contribution with just a few spare hours a month. Chatham Dockyard and Fort Amherst have a range of volunteer opportunities, from grass-cutting and grounds maintenance, to tour guiding, and events assistance. Find out more at www.fortamherst.com and  www.chdt.org.uk,

- Got a great idea for a project, and have some time on your hands? Why not think about applying to the Chatham World Heritage Community Fund? Up to £750 can be requested - closing date for 2009 is 7th August.

- Medway Renaissance runs a volunteer scheme known as Regeneration Ambassadors. If you have a passion for heritage and regeneration they would love to hear from you.

- A new group has been established to promote, enhance and celebrate historic Brompton Village. The group is looking for interested residents to help with a variety of initiatives - from organising community social and sporting events to promoting an immaculate village environment. Visit their website for more details.

- England's Past for Everyone is an exciting project which will culminate in the production of a paperback book and school resources about the changing face of Medway, prompted by the Royal Naval Dockyard, from 1550 - 1900. Training in historical research can be provided for volunteers, and there are a number of ways to help out.

- Construction of the Lower Lines Park - the first phase of the Great Lines Heritage Park - will begin soon, and a "Friends" group has been established to support the park's creation and receive regular updates on progress. The group meets every six weeks, at the Sunlight Centre in Gillingham, and all are welcome. To find out more, e-mail the group's secretary, Adam Price, or download the Friends' leaflet here.

- Are you a local business that would like to join our growing list of private sector supporters by sponsoring the World Heritage Partnership - or other aspects of project work? Please contact us for an informal discussion.

- Finally, if there are other ways you would like to become involved, please let us know. We always look forward to hearing from you.
