Chatham World Heritage Community Fund

Ideas for projects which respond to

(a) the policies of the draft World Heritage Management Plan, and
(b) the proposed vision for the site

are invited.

Projects can apply for a maximum of £750 each, and there is £2,250 available in total. There is no minimum sum per project.

Projects must not imply ongoing costs, or additional costs for other organisations.

Individuals and groups who received money in the first round of funding are able to bid for funds, but this must not be for a repeat of the same project.

Projects should begin before the end of 2009, and finish by June 30th 2010

If you would like to propose an idea, please send, by 7th August 2009, a brief summary of:

·What policy, or vision, the project would address?

·How much money it would cost, and how much you are applying for (please provide a breakdown of expenditure).

·When it would take place (anticipated start and end date).

·Who would be involved.

·How it would be managed.

Summaries should be sent to either:

(1) chathamworldheritage@medway.gov.uk, or
(2) Joanne Cable, Chatham World Heritage, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent. ME4 4TR

and should not exceed 300 words.

Successful projects will be contacted by the end of August 2009, and can commence from 1st September.

Projects must NOT include any element of profit. A maximum of 75% of project costs can be paid up front (i.e. before the project starts), and receipts must be provided for all expenditure.  We will be happy to be invoiced directly from suppliers of goods or services, where appropriate.

Projects which were funded in 2008/09 were:

·£100  and free venue hire of Fort Amherst Gatehouse (for a three day free public display) awarded to the Gillingham Adult Education Mixed Media Art Class, to mount a series of works produced in their autum term, on the theme of Chatham's heritage "Through our Eyes"

·£220 to the Brompton Conservation Association for the design and supply of a Village notice board.

·£990 to the Fairbridge Trust, for the design and delivery of a four day "Chatham Teen Time Team" project, working with 17 young people to explore the roles young people  have played in the dockyard's history.

·£1000 to the Friends of the Admiral's Gardens for the creation of a website, and production of a leaflet.

We look forward to hearing from you.
