Lorry Driver of the Year 1981

"These were the entrants to the 1981 Lorry Driver Of The Year competition, held at Hempstead Valley (Savacentre): from left to right :'Buck' Richman, Norman Turner, Paul Gifford, myself, Roger Hemmings.

I believe that I was the last lorry driver at Chatham, because I was 'doing' a tour on the R.F.A. Fort Grange until Monday 26th March 1984, and was told to report back to the dockyard garage on Friday 30th March, only to be told that the drivers had all left the previous day as there was no more work for them to do."
