Brompton Village

Brompton developed rapidly in the 18th century to accommodate a fast-growing military and naval workforce. It became a unique civilian "enclave" encircled by the dockyard, barracks and fortifications. It retains today an elegant Georgian feel at its historic core, and remains the home of the Royal Engineers. One particular aspect of its historic legacy is an abundance of public houses!
